More frequent move updates required by USPS
To acquire and keep customers, you need to make sure your mail reaches them. Here are important changes you need to be aware of:
The Postal Service is increasing its effort to improve the percentage of deliverable mail by revising the Move Update standards. The Move Update standards provide ways for mailers to reduce the number of mailpieces that require forwarding or return by the periodic matching of a mailer’s address records with customer-filed change-of-address orders.
Effective Nov. 23, 2008:
Standard Class mailers: Standard Class mailers will have to begin performing Move Updates on their lists every 95 days. Previously, Standard Class mailers were not required to perform Move Updates.
First Class mailers: First Class mailers will be required to update their mail lists every 95 days instead of 185 days.
The time for these changes to take effect is rapidly approaching. What do you need to do to prepare?
So you can continue to take advantage of discounted mail rates, contact your Quad sales rep about running Move Update services as early as August 20, 2008, and still be compliant for mailings that begin November 23, 2008.
